Hayti Shopping Center Mural

This is for my creative writing "Independent" project. We had to chose an area of literature that we were interested in, do a biography of a person who worked or works in that field, and have a present something we did in that area.

I am really into photojournalism, so for my project, I did a report on Durham's murals in photography.

As usual, I used my Polaroid 7.0 Megapixel Digital Camera (which should put in my "Tools of the Trade" slot in my Devious Info).

This is photojournalism, so I did not paint this mural, the great artist Emily Weinstein did, check her out at [link]. This mural was painted near Durham's Hayti Shopping Center. Hayti was an area of Durham where mainly African-Americans lived and were quite active (during times of segregation), which is why this particular mural is pretty important to me.

This mural is pretty fascinating because it takes up a lot of space, it pretty much covers the whole wall (it's a wall of a building that is actually Food Lion, which is the shopping center's grocery store). The mural also subjects the Hayti lifestlye very well, I mean just look at it!
